Celebrating La Réunion Island during French Week. Madame Hudgens came from La Réunion Island and on Monday shared information about her place of birth.

Welcome to French Week at Sam Morgan Elementary! Each day we will learn a French Word of the Day, learn about a country that speaks French, and our morning song will be a song from that country.

Monday, our word for the day was Bonjour, which means Hello or Good Morning! It is used throughout the day in greeting other people.

The country we learned about is La Réunion Island where our own Madame Hudgens originates from. Réunion Island can be found east of Madagascar. It is a rugged volcanic island with a tropical climate. French is the official language, with many different ethnicities, mostly blending African, Asian and European influences. Madame Hudgens with some of our Student Council members set up an information table with posters about Réunion Island, had music playing that comes from Réunion, and temporary tropical tattoos for kids to enjoy.

The kids loved learning the cultural dances of Réunion and more about the place that Mme. Hudgens called home!
