Recently, Davis School District student body officers designed, built and unveiled a memorial honoring more than 1,000 Utah veterans.
Hundreds of people gathered in Kaysville to get a first look at the new "Davis High School Armed Forces Wall of Honor." Since 1914, Davis High School students have chosen to serve in the U.S. military after graduation. The wall stands as a powerful tribute to the sacrifice of those brave men and women.
“I think it’s a great thing for young people to be aware of what it takes to maintain our freedoms,” said Air Force Veteran Courtney Fisher.
The school’s student body officers spent months collecting names, combing through old yearbooks, and constructing the wall using rich walnut wood. Veterans not yet born will eventually be added, with space remaining to honor future generations for decades to come.
“It’s made such an impact on me and our whole team,” said Davis High School senior Addie. “It’s really cool to be able to see those that have served—the names we’ve been looking at for months—and to meet them and watch them see the finished product.”
The public is welcome to visit the memorial during Davis High School’s business hours.
Davis School District stands united in honoring the legacy of those who have served, with deep gratitude and lasting remembrance.
