The Davis Adult Education ESL program advanced class studnets recently completed a powerful project-based learning unit on job skills—and the results were inspiring. Over several weeks, students worked hard to prepare for real-world interviews. They explored their interests and strengths, practiced answering common interview questions, and wrote tailored cover letters and resumes.
The unit culminated in Mock Interviews with Stephanie, Jeff, and Alex from the Utah State Board of Education’s Adult Education division. While many students admitted they were nervous, they came out of the experience more confident and empowered.
One student shared, “Thank you for this lesson because I had a job interview for a promotion at work, and I was more prepared—and I got the promotion!”
For others, it was their first time experiencing an interview in English. They were deeply grateful to Stephanie and her team for offering feedback, encouragement, and a safe space to practice essential career skills.
