Unified Soccer athletes from across Davis School District took to America First Field for the state tournament, showcasing their athletic abilities, teamwork and school pride. Several district teams earned championship and runner-up finishes, making it a memorable day for athletes and their school communities.
Unified Sports, a Special Olympics program, brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete as teammates. Through shared athletic experiences, participants build friendships, develop skills and promote inclusion both on and off the field.
Bountiful High School had an outstanding tournament, with both of its participating teams earning state championships in their respective divisions. Northridge High School also celebrated a championship win, while its second team finished as runner-up. Clearfield High School's team earned a runner-up finish. Woods Cross High School was also represented in the morning's play-in competition.
The day included opportunities to celebrate student abilities beyond the competition. Before the tournament began, a Northridge High student demonstrated her soccer skills for those in attendance. During opening ceremonies, a Unified athlete and partner from Farmington High joined their School Resource Officer in participating in the torch run.
Through programs like Unified Sports, students have opportunities to compete, develop meaningful relationships and contribute to a school community where everyone belongs. Congratulations to all the athletes, partners and coaches who represented their schools at the state tournament!
