Davis School District teams are currently working on construction projects funded through the 2022 Building Generations bond.
Projects at Burton and Vae View elementary schools, Kaysville Junior High School and Layton High School are creating safer and more functional spaces for students and staff.
At Burton Elementary, improvements include a secure entrance, expanded office, refreshed classrooms, updated HVAC, a new roof and a redesigned courtyard.
“We've taken what was an old, kind of tired building,” said Davis School District Architectural Coordinator Tanner Stout, “and we're giving it a new facelift and a new life for the future generations of kids attending the school.”
Burton Elementary Principal Jennifer Malan says students are already noticing the difference.
“Our students are excited to come into a building with more light, cleaner spaces and newer furniture,” Malan said. “And they want to be here to learn.”
At Vae View Elementary, six classrooms, new offices and faculty spaces are being added, while the interior courtyard is being enclosed for year-round use.
At Kaysville Junior High, a new gymnasium is being built with Kaysville City. The school will use it during the day, while the city will offer recreation programs there after hours and on weekends.
“Kaysville City has a great partner so far, and we're going to have a spectacular building,” said Davis School District Architectural Services Director Brian Turner.
Layton High is receiving new performing arts and CTE spaces, remodeled classrooms and an expanded commons area.
