Parkside Elementary recently welcomed families, students, teachers, staff, administrators and former members of the school community to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special open house.
The celebration was a chance for the Parkside community to come together and recognize two decades of memories, relationships and experiences that have shaped the school. The evening began with a flag ceremony led by a local Scout troop before guests headed inside to explore the school and celebrate its history.
Throughout the building, guests could look back at photos and highlights from Parkside’s 20 years. A slideshow in the gym showcased memories from throughout the school’s history, while signs created by teachers highlighted important moments from each year. Families and students also had opportunities to build their own Panther stuffed animals, make Panther ears and enjoy treats together.
One of the evening’s most meaningful moments was seeing D. Roy Warren, Parkside’s very first principal, return to celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary. His presence connected Parkside’s beginnings with the community that continues to support the school today.
The celebration reflected what has made Parkside special for the past 20 years: the people. Families, students and educators have each played a role in creating a welcoming community where students can learn, grow and build lasting memories.
Twenty years later, the Panther community continues to celebrate the connections that make Parkside Elementary a special place to call home.
