A successful school year starts with strong preparation, connection and support. This week, Davis School District welcomed approximately 140 new educators to Farmington High School for New Educator Orientation, helping them begin their careers in Davis with the tools, relationships and resources they need to succeed.
The two-day orientation, coordinated by the Teaching & Learning Department brought together new teachers, counselors and related service professionals for a combination of professional learning, connection and a firsthand introduction to the people and departments supporting educators across the district.
The welcome began with a memorable greeting from students and the Viewmont High School Drumline before new educators gathered in the auditorium for a grand welcome.
Davis School District Superintendent Dr. Dan Linford and Board President Brigit Gerrard joined Teaching & Learning leaders in welcoming the newest members of the Davis team and emphasizing the importance of building connections.
Throughout the orientation, new educators participated in sessions led by Teaching & Learning content supervisors and highly effective veteran teachers. Breakout sessions allowed educators to connect with colleagues teaching similar subjects or grade levels, share ideas and begin building relationships that will support them throughout the school year.
Another highlight was the Discover Davis Hallway, where 18 district departments hosted informational tables for new educators. From resources and professional support to services that directly benefit students, the event gave new employees an opportunity to learn how the district works together to support schools and classrooms.
