Central Davis Junior High Unified Basketball Player

Junior high students from across the district came together for a milestone event as 12 schools and 24 teams participated in the inaugural Junior High Unified Basketball Tournament.

Hosted at Central Davis Junior High, the tournament featured six competitive divisions, each awarding first through fourth place. Throughout the day, four courts ran simultaneously as students of all abilities competed side by side, creating an atmosphere filled with energy, encouragement and school pride.

Division champions included Centerville Chargers Blue (Division 1), North Davis Norsemen (Division 2), North Davis Green (Division 3), Central Davis Purple (Division 4), Mueller Park Panthers (Division 5) and Horizon Court Commanders (Division 6).

Participating schools included Central Davis, Centerville, Fairfield, Farmington, Horizon, Millcreek, Mueller Park, North Davis, North Layton, Shoreline, South Davis and Syracuse junior high schools.

Adding junior high basketball to the Unified Sports program marks an important step in expanding opportunities for students to engage earlier in their school experience. With a strong foundation already established at the high school level, the junior high tournament helps students better understand what it means to be unified—fostering acceptance, teamwork and mutual respect.

The event also drew strong support from families, student leaders and school communities, reinforcing the positive culture that Unified programs help build across the district.
