Northridge High School’s machining shop has received a $25,000 grant to help students pursue education and careers in advanced manufacturing.

The funding comes from the Gene Haas Foundation, a nonprofit that supports technical education and the next generation of machinists. The grant will provide scholarships for graduating students and basic toolkits for those entering machining and manufacturing careers.

Instructors say students who complete machining courses can step directly into entry-level jobs after high school. With manufacturing continuing to grow across northern Utah, companies in aerospace, defense, medical and other industries are actively seeking skilled workers.
