Falcons are Fabulous fundraising assembly

Clearfield High School students raised $103,779.10 for Safe Harbor Crisis Center during the school’s annual“ Falcons Are Fabulous” fundraiser, a two-week event focused on service, school spirit and giving back to the community.

The donation was revealed during the final FAF assembly and will support Safe Harbor, the only domestic violence and sexual assault service provider in Davis County. The nonprofit serves more than 3,000 people each year through emergency shelter, transitional housing, therapy and outreach programs.

This money is going to help us reinforce the security of our Kaysville campus,” Safe Harbor Executive Director Todd Hixson said. “It is a project that needs to be done badly that we have not been able to find the funding for. So, this will make a significant difference in the safety of a lot of the clients that come to us for services.”

Students raised money through donations, competitions, auctions and high-energy assembly events, including lip-sync battles and “save or shave” challenges. Student leaders said the goal was not only to raise money, but also to bring awareness to issues that are often difficult to talk about.

“I feel like sexual assault and domestic abuse can be kind of a taboo topic for a lot of people. "Service Officer Paige said. “Our goal is to bring more awareness to that and help people to see that if something bad happens to you, it's okay to get help. And we want to show that Clearfield High School supports domestic abuse victims and like helping these people rehabilitate and get back to normal.

Student Body Officer President Luke credited the school wide effort for the fundraiser’s success.

“This school is a little bit of a lower income school,” Luke said. “So to have so many gracious people to be able to put together their every single penny, every single dime, to have this much money to go towards such an amazing cause, it astounds me every single year how much money we can put together.”

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, don’t wait. Reach out to Safe Harbor and they will get you the help you need.
