Acadience Math: Assessing Early Numeracy and Problem-Solving Skills

Acadience Math is a state-mandated assessment designed for students in grades kindergarten through third. Administered at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year, this assessment serves as both a universal screening tool and a progress monitoring measure. Its primary purpose is to evaluate students’ acquisition of math skills from kindergarten through third grade.

Key Features:

Early Numeracy: Acadience Math assesses early numeracy skills, ensuring that students have a solid foundation in fundamental mathematical concepts.
Computation: The assessment evaluates students’ computational abilities, including basic arithmetic operations.
Problem-Solving: Acadience Math also measures problem-solving skills, which are essential for mathematical proficiency.

Why Acadience Math Matters:

Identification: It identifies students who may be at risk for mathematics difficulties through universal screening.
Targeted Instruction: Teachers can use Acadience Math results to pinpoint areas requiring instructional support.
Monitoring Progress: For at-risk students, Acadience Math provides ongoing monitoring during targeted instruction.
System Effectiveness: Schools can examine the effectiveness of their instructional support systems using Acadience Math data.

Acadience Math helps educators ensure that every child develops essential math skills, setting them up for success in mathematics throughout their academic journey. After the administration of the assessment, parents and/or guardians are notified of the student’s results.

Additionally, the Assessment and Evaluation Coordinators (AECs) play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of the assessment process. They ensure that ethics training has been provided to staff involved in the required testing and that anyone administering the assessment (whether certified or classified) has attended the proper training.

MOY - Middle of Year: 12/2 - 12/20
EOY - End of Year: 4/21 - 5/9
