What are CTE Career Pathways?
A pathway is a roadmap or series of courses in an area of study to help prepare a student for a career in that area. Students who focus on a pathway acquire the skills to transition smoothly into their post-high school education or job. CTE provides courses and Pathways consistent with industry standards. Exploratory courses begin in the seventh grade, and subsequent courses teach students specific job readiness and job skills, which can lead to employment and post-secondary education. Career and Technical Education has Career Pathways that are organized into Career Clusters. Each pathway within a cluster is structured to make it easier to see which courses are relevant to certain career areas to assist in your high school course planning.

How It Works

Take the Class
Pick your pathway and speak with your CTE coordinator to determine if your chosen pathway is available in your school district. Your CTE coordinator will provide you with the pathway requirements and connect you with our partnered employers. Complete required courses, and you are on your way to earning your industry-recognized certification.

Use the Skills
Gain real-world experience as you participate in a required work-based learning activity that compliments your required courses. From job shadows to externships, our pathways are designed to expose students to a working environment, build a network with employers and explore career opportunities.

Get the Job
Earn your industry-recognized certificate and take advantage of a guaranteed job interview after completing your chosen pathway. Your certificate guarantees you a job interview with participating employers. Land your first job and continue your education to skill up. But don't stop there. Ask your employer about their tuition reimbursement plan.
