District receives high marks on systemwide accreditation

Davis School District has once again achieved systemwide K-12 accreditation and is still the only school district in the state to hold such a designation.

The accreditation comes after an 18-member AdvancED accreditation team spent four days in October observing 255 classrooms and interviewing more than 700 people, including students, parents, community members and district personnel.

And while the national average of AdvancED’s “Index of Education Quality” rating ranges from 278 to 283, it handed the Davis School District a rating of 339 — a 53-point gain since the district’s original systemwide accreditation in 2014.

District off to great start in 2020

By Reid Newey, Superintendent

Happy New Year and welcome to a new decade in education!  Davis School District saw unprecedented student success in the previous 10 years, and we look forward to more of the same in the next decade.

This past October Davis School District was visited and evaluated by a national team of education experts for accreditation. All secondary schools must be accredited in order to have universal recognition of credits earned by students at any post-secondary institution. Davis School District is one of a very few select districts, across the country, that participate in a “systemwide accreditation.”

We do this for mainly two reasons: 1. It creates a uniform accreditation cycle for our secondary schools and 2. All our 62 elementary schools are accredited. We are the only school district in Utah in which our elementary schools have rigorously been evaluated and awarded the distinction of being accredited.
