    Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool® serves as the base curriculum for the Davis/Morgan/Summit Head Start Program.  It promotes developmentally appropriate practices and daily routines and meaningful experiences that respond to children’s strengths, interests, and needs. All activities are planned with purpose and intent.  The developmental levels and interest of the children are known and built upon. The Head Start Early Learning Framework is also followed and outlines the essential areas of development and learning. There is a strong School Readiness Focus and goals are established that will help monitor progress. Both teacher and assistant engage in observations and outcome data to further their knowledge of each child’s development. The teacher and assistant build relationships with the families, and include parents knowledge of the child in curriculum planning. Activities and curriculum are presented in a loving and playful way. Teaching Strategies GOLD® Online is the assessment tool used to monitor the progress children make throughout the year. Child progress is shared with parents three times a year in the following areas: Social-Emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, and Mathematics.
