Four junior high bands from Centerville, Central Davis, Farmington, and Millcreek were recently awarded sweepstakes status at the State Junior High Concert Band Festival held at Libby Gardner Hall at the University of Utah.
This marked the first time so many bands from the Davis School District had been selected for sweepstakes status, the highest honor. Out of the 30 bands that qualified for the festival, only a few achieved this distinction.
The Davis School District bands received straight superior ratings of 1 from two judges for their concert performance, as well as a 1 from a judge on the sight-reading test. These ratings are equivalent to an A grade in the traditional grading system.
The bands also received plaques to commemorate their accomplishment.
