Project Overview

At a Davis Board of Education meeting on July 17, 2018, Mr. Craig Carter recommended the rebuilding of South Clearfield Elementary beginning in the spring of 2019. This was listed as a possible project in the 2015 Bond.

Brigit Gerrard made a motion to approve the rebuild of South Clearfield in spring 2019. Tamara Lowe seconded the motion.

President John Robison, Vice President Mona Andrus, Liz Mumford, Brigit Gerrard, Tamara Lowe and Julie Tanner voted in favor. There was none in opposition. The motion carried.

The board approval enabled the planning and site preparation process to begin.

The list of deficiencies in the existing South Clearfield Elementary School building justify the replacement of the building.  It will not be possible to fit a prototype on the site so the new school building will be a custom design.  This will necessitate a close working relationship with the neighboring property owners, especially Clearfield City.  The new building will be planned to have all the same amenities as the new prototype. 

Plans are expected to be completed at the end of October 2019. Construction on this project is began in December of 2019 with a targeted completion date during the summer of 2021. 

During the Davis Board of Education Workshop on Sept. 17, 2019, the board approved spending $323,079 for Hogan & Associates Construction to create a temporary staff parking lot across 1000 East on Clearfield High property to be used by the South Clearfield Elementary faculty and staff during the construction process since the new building will be built on the existing parking lot west of the building. Construction was complete November of 2019. The parking lot is now used by Clearfield High School students.  

During the Davis Board of Education meeting on November 6, 2019, the board approved the Hogan & Associates Construction bid package 2 to subcontractors in the amount of $1,363,255. Bid Package 2 is for the relocation of existing building utilities that will be under the footprint of the proposed new building.
