Bountiful High School Stadium Lighting
The wind storm in September blew over one of the existing light poles on the Bountiful High School football field. The winds left the other three poles near collapse. A structural engineer was called to evaluate the structural stability of the three remaining light poles. It was determined that they should be taken down as well. Bids were received to replace the existing light poles with new LED lights and concrete foundations. Work will begin immediately and will be completed for football season.
B. Jackson Construction and Engineering bid $512,400 to replace the lights.
Clearfield High School Music Rooms Remodel
The band room at Clearfield High School will be remodeled to remove the risers and replaced with a flat floor. This will necessitate changes with the cabinetry and the ceiling in the room. Finishes in the adjacent Choral Room will also be upgraded to match. At the same time, the windows on the east side of the school at the shops will be replaced with new energy efficient windows. Work is to begin in June and will be complete by October 2019.
Davis High School Practice Field Drainage
Project Overview
In 2004, when Davis High was rebuilt, the old drivers training range located at the east of the football field, was converted into the practice field.
The topsoil on the practice field supported the natural grass very well, however, the ground six inches below the sod is compacted. The compacted base did not soak up water. During heavy rainstorms, water ran across the practice field, under the bleachers, across the track, and onto the football field. The excess water caused ripples in the base course under the artificial turf that had created tripping hazards on the football field.
To prevent the excess water from making it to the football field, a curb and gutter was installed along the west side of the practice field. The curb and gutter directs the runoff to sumps. The grassy hillside on the north and south of the visitor bleachers was replaced with rock cobble and trees.
The project was completed spring 2018.

Doxey Elementary Site Renovation
A parent drop-off loop will be created on 975 North Street just east of the building near the existing asphalt playground. This will allow parents to drop-off their children and easily turn around and exit. This will ease traffic congestion and make a more orderly drop-off and pick-up experience. Work will begin immediately and will be completed by October 30th, 2020.
Farmington Bus Maintenance Facility
Project Overview
A maintenance facility was constructed on the existing site of the Farmington bus lot adjacent to Farmington High School.
Parking canopies support photo voltaic panels that provide solar power to offset the electric bills at the high school.
Also built is a new maintenance building which containing two maintenance bays, a bus wash bay, offices and lounge space for drivers.
Hogan & Associates in the capacity of general contractor, received bids from sub-contractors for this project.
Construction was complete in Fall 2018 at a guaranteed maximum price of $6,524,208. To view the memorandum, click here.

Food Lab Refurbishment
On March 25, 2021 bids were received for the food lab refurbishment at Farmington Junior High, Mueller Park Junior High, and Syracuse High School. Due to limited budgets, the decision was made to pull the Farmington Junior High portion of the project. The Board of Education in the April 6, 2021 meeting approved the bid from Bailey Builders for the Food Lab Refurbishment project of $453,667.00. Since that time additional funding has become available that will enable the Farmington Junior High food lab to be added to the project. The existing spaces will be remodeled to add an eighth student station. The cabinets and countertops will be replaced with a new configuration. The labs will get new floor finish, ceilings, and lighting. Work will begin in June and be complete by mid-August. Bailey Builders was awarded the project with their $873,785 bid.
Layton High School Gymnasium Wheelchair Lift

The entrance to the baseball field will be enhanced. New fencing to create bull pens and a concrete pad for bleachers will be added at the softball field. Sprinklers will be modified to accommodate the new fencing. Work is expected to begin immediately and be complete by the end of December 2020.
Layton High Welding Shop Remodel
Layton, Viewmont, and Woods Cross High Stage Rigging Replacement
Hogan & Associates, the construction manager / general contractor, received bids from sub-contractors for the high school Stage Rigging Replacement project. The successful bids are compiled to create a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the project. The GMP for this project is almost 2.7 million for upgrades and replacement of stage rigging.
All three schools will be getting new rigging systems and the proscenium openings narrowed. Structural steel work will be done at Layton and Viewmont. Work will begin at Layton High School on March 1st. Work at Viewmont and Woods Cross high schools will begin June 1st. All three schools are expected to be completed in August.
Lincoln Elementary Site Renovation
The drop-off and pick-up experience at Lincoln Elementary is complicated due to the access from Antelope Drive. In an effort to simplify things, the entrance to the parking lot from Antelope Drive will be shifted to the west to line up with 650 West, across the street. The cars entering the site for drop-off will be in a one-way loop on the west side of the building.
This new drop-off loop will add some, much needed, additional parking which will be created in the existing asphalt play area. To accommodate this, the portable classrooms will eventually be relocated to the south west side of the playground. The existing play toy structure will be relocated to make room for a new asphalt playground.
The east side of the school will be modified to create an additional drop-off loop with an exit that lines up with 1925 North Street. This will allow parents who live south of the school to drop-off without having to access Antelope Drive. The buses will use the drive in front of the school. Work will begin immediately and with portions to be completed this fall. The portable classrooms will be relocated in the spring and the remainder of the project will be completed by August 2021.
Mountain View Elementary Site Drainage
The design of the housing development to the north of Mountain View Elementary School has created a water problem in the playfield of the school. When the neighbors water their lawns with the secondary water, it migrates to the south retaining wall that borders the school property.
The excess water passes through the wall and creates several swampy areas in the playground. This project will install a new drainage pipe along the north property line to pick up this excess water and take it to the existing storm drain on the site. It will also install new landscaping along the north and east property lines.
Work will begin immediately with the drain line installation to be complete before the secondary water is turned on in April. The landscaping work is expected to be complete in June 2019.
Northridge High School Sports Turf Installation
The existing natural grass football field at Northridge High School will be removed and replaced with new artificial sports turf.
This will allow the football field to be used as a multi-purpose field to accommodate, football, soccer, lacrosse, and physical education. Some minor work to relocate the existing long jump pit and runway will also take place.
Work is expected to begin in May and completed by mid-August 2019.

Mueller Park Junior High Waterlines Replacement
Tolman Elementary Waterline Replacement
The domestic water service piping throughout Tolman Elementary School will be removed and replaced with new copper piping. Besides eliminating the persistent leaking problems, the brown water issue will also be cleared up. The majority of the work will take place in the boiler room and tunnels. It will begin in June and will be completed in August 2019.
Whitesides Elementary Locker Installation
Stewart Elementary Parking Addition
The south entrance at Main Street at Stewart Elementary will be closed off and relocated to the north to line up with 1100 North Street. Parking will be added south of the school and a new parent drop-off loop will be created. Buses will continue to use the existing drop-off on the east side of the school. UDOT has plans to improve Main Street this summer which will require some coordination. Work will begin in June and complete by August 2019.
Syracuse High Sports Turf Intallation
The existing natural grass football field at Syracuse High School will be removed and replaced with new artificial sports turf. This will allow the football field to be used as a multi-purpose field to accommodate football, soccer, lacrosse, and physical education. Some minor work to relocate the existing long jump pit and a new surface on the running track will also take place. Work is expected to begin in May and completed by mid-August.
Viewmont High Baseball Field Renovation
The deteriorated backstop for the Viewmont High School baseball field will be removed and replaced with a new pony wall and net system. Much of the fencing, concrete slabs and landscaping around the viewing side of the field will be replaced and cleaned up. The existing dugouts and score tower will be painted. New bleachers will be installed. Work will begin immediately and will be completed by the end of January 2020 in time for the season to begin.
Viewmont High Track Replacement
The existing running track surface and asphalt underlayment system at Viewmont High School needs to be replaced. Tree roots have created an un-level running surface. The existing asphalt underlayment system will be removed and replaced with a new post-tensioned concrete system. This will then be topped with a new urethane surface. Work will begin in May and will be complete by the first week of August. Hughes General Contractors will oversee the track replacement. The approved bid for the project is just over $1.2 million.
Washington Elementary Demolition
