Dance
Explore elements of dance and movement through skills such as time, space, energy, shape, levels and the use of the body/mind.
a. Create: Students will develop, organize, complete, and refine movement ideas and work.
b. Perform: Students will analyze, interpret, develop techniques, and express meaning through the presentation of dance and movement.
c. Respond: Students will analyze, interpret intent, and articulate the criteria of the dance and movement process.
d. Connect: Students will connect dance and movement knowledge from historical, societal and cultural experiences to deepen understanding of their world and community.
Music
Explore musical skills and concepts through song/singing, playing simple instruments, using listening/aural skills, and simple notation to learn about melody, harmony, rhythm/meter, form, timbre and expressive qualities.
a. Create: Students will develop, organize, complete, and refine new musical ideas and work.
b. Perform: Students will analyze, interpret, select and develop techniques for a musical performance.
c. Respond: Students will analyze, interpret intent, evaluate, and articulate how music conveys meaning.
d. Connect: Students will connect musical knowledge from historical, societal and cultural experiences to deepen understanding of their world and community.
Theatre
Explore elements of drama through skills such as character, plot, story-telling, setting, symbolism, design, use of body movement and of the voice.
a. Create: Students will develop, organize, complete, and refine dramatic ideas and work.
b. Perform: Students will analyze, interpret, develop techniques, and express meaning through the presentation of dramatic works.
c. Respond: Students will analyze, interpret intent, and articulate the criteria of the dramatic work and process.
d. Connect: Students will connect theatrical knowledge from historical, societal and cultural experiences to deepen understanding of their world and community.
Visual Art
Explore visual art through the simple elements and principles of art such as line, shape, texture, color, balance and value.
a. Create: Students will develop, organize, complete, and refine original artistic work.
b. Present: Students will analyze, interpret, and select an artistic work for presentation.
c. Respond: Students will understand, evaluate, and articulate how works of art convey meaning for the observer as well as the creator.
d. Connect: Students will connect artistic knowledge from historical, societal and cultural experiences to deepen understanding of their world and community.
