TUESDAY

LATE STARTS

Why have a late start every week?
Viewmont High School is constantly evaluating the most progressive research on educational reform in order to implement the best programs and methods for the benefit of our students and community.  One of the chief components of successful reform in progressive, high preforming schools is the creation of a block of time within which teachers can work collaboratively to enhance instruction in the classroom.  The Davis School District has granted permission to Viewmont High School to pilot a late start program that provides teachers with a weekly opportunity to work with each other to increase the levels of instruction provided in each classroom.

When will this late start occur?
This weekly collaboration will be conducted EVERY TUESDAY from 7:15 - 8:15.  Therefore, classes for students will not begin on these days until 8:30.

What happens with students who arrive on the bus or at the normally scheduled time?
Arrangements have been made to provide for those students who arrive before 8:30 on Tuesdays.  This time, however, is not to be used to make appointments with teachers or to work with teachers on individual assignments, make-up or testing.  The Viewmont SRC program is provided every day for students to address these issues.
