Freestyle and Greco is in full swing. We have over 50 wrestlers training hard in our Attack club. This is a tremendous turnout for a 2nd year club that is made up of mostly current and future Titans. Many of the teammembers are hitting the mats at tournaments throughout Utah and Idaho. We are proud of the commitment these young men have made to working towards their goals.

Feb. 14, 2009
Congratulations to Phillip Helms. He became our first state placer in school history after placing 3rd in the 160 lb 5A State Tournament. Phillip had a great tournament winning five matches. This was a true testimant to what good old-fashion hard work can accomplish. Phillip has set the standard for future Titan Grapplers as he did everything the right way. Great student, great athlete, great person!

Tyler Larsen and Bryson Berger also showed well at the state tournament. Tyler went 2-2, defeating a region champion from Brighton. This was an outstanding accomplishment for a sophomore in the heavyweight division.

Bryson was so close to placing. Though he was only 1-2 at the tournament, he was in control of a tough Northridge wrestler when a mistake late in the match cost him a chance to place. Bryson had a tremendous season and we appreciate the improvement and committment he has shown our program.

Cameron Galbraith went 0-2 in the tournament but considering he is a first year wrestler and in the heavyweight division, just making it there is a tremendous accomplishment. We look forward to returning two outstanding heavyweights next season.

Feb. 5, 2009
Congratulations to our seven Region 1 Championship placers. Phillip Helms 160 lbs (2nd place), Bryson Berger 112 lbs (4th place), Tyler Larsen (4th place), and Cameron Galbraith (5th place)qualified for the state tournament next week at UVU. Josh Boman, Brenden Hulsey, and Ramon Ballesteros each placed 6th in their respective weights and will be alternates for the state tournament.

Overall we had an outstanding tournament finishing 6th (out of 8). The five teams that finished ahead of us are all ranked in the top six in state. These wrestlers have set the foundation for what will be one of the premeire programs in the near future. We wish them luck next week as we look to having our first state placer.
