It's time for the 2014 Expanding Your Horizons (EHY) conference in Northern Utah, for girls in grades 6 - 9.
This day-long event will include hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). At the conference, girls will get a chance to meet STEM role models and learn more about careers in those fields. Our ultimate goal is to motivate girls to become innovative and creative thinkers ready to meet today's challenges.

Parent volunteers are need for the following two programs:
SRC - We need parent or community members who can come and help during SRC times on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:50 - 10:20. You don't need to come every time. We need volunteers who would like to come and share a skill or teach a mini class for students who are all caught up on their school work. We also need volunteers who are willing to help students with homework or help monitor students in classes. If you are willing to help please email Paulynn Hacking at
Reality Town - Parents and community members are needed to help run Reality Town for our 8th grade students. Reality Town will be held Thursday November 6, 2014 from 9:00 - 11:30. Reality Town is an activity where students are given a career and life scenario. Students use the information to build the life they would like by visiting booths and purchasing the items they need such as housing, transportation, insurance, childcare, etc. We need parents to sit at booths helping student in purchasing items. You don't need to have any special knowledge about your booth, your life experience is all that is needed. We need 75 community volunteers to run this great program. You don't need to have a 8th grade student to volunteer. If you are able to help please email Paulynn Hacking at

The department of the month for October is the Healthy Lifestyles. We have the best coaches and appreciate all the work they do for Farmington Junior. Our coaches are:
    Coach Anderson
    Coach Downs
    Coach Steele
    Coach Reimann

Each of these teachers puts in many hours working with students and the teams at Farmington Junior. They keep students busy running and working in PE. They also keep student running and working before school, during SRC and after school. They are a great positive influence on the students in developing healthy life skills. Besides teaching PE they all have other classes they teach.
Thanks HEALTHY LIFESTYLES DEPARTMENT!  Drop your PE or Health Teacher an email or note this month telling them what you like about their class.
