  • "It's About Time"

Students, third to sixth grade, have received a “Time Travel Card” in the Library. Each card has the nine genres listed on it as well as a Caldecott/Newberry line. Student who want to participate need to read one book (on their level) in each genre and when they are finished they will meet with a Time Traveler Agent who will ask some questions about the book. If they can answer the questions, they will get a sticker showing they passed off that book. Once the card is full it will be dropped in a Time Machine and they will get to pick a prize. Any student who completes  three full cards by the end of the year will get to come to an end of year party. Students who read more than the three will continue to earn additional prizes. Any student who misplaces their card can get a replacement the next month and will need to start over – don’t you love accountability.

Each grade has been assigned a color: 6th – purple, 5th – turquoise, 4th – red, and 3rd – yellow. We are going to go a lot of really great places. J

  • MyDsd App
Listed below are the instruction links that guide parents and students how to use the MyDsd App.  This enables parents the ability to sign up for notifications (school lunch balances and absences), if desired. This App also allows parents and students to see similar information as they currently can view on the web version of MyDsd.  To find this free app, go to iPhone’s App Store or Google Play for the Android; type in Davis School District and the app will be available for download.

  • Thank you Lowe's!

West Bountiful Elementary would like to publically recognize and thank Lowe’s for the huge support they are lending to our school!  Mark Deskins, Pro Services Specialist and Evans Martin, HR Director of the West Bountiful Lowe’s have recently honored our school with the Lowe’s Hero’s Program.  As a result, Lowe’s has basically adopted our school to fulfill facility needs and support some science/engineering projects!!  The following projects are currently planned:

    ·         Painting bike racks, entry poles on the north side, railings throughout the grounds, and benches.  Valspar Paint is donating the paint.  Capitol lumber is donating the wood for bench repair.

    ·         Repainting and touch up of four square and hopscotch areas following district slurry.

    ·         Installment of containment edging for bark in the flower beds on the east side of the school.

    ·         Ten benches installed in the atrium which will allow students to utilize this are during academic time!

    ·         Soil to freshen up the flower beds in the atrium.

    ·         Annual flowers in the spring to brighten the atrium.

    ·         Scotts is donating roundup and employees will spray weeds later in the summer.

    ·         Jack the Cat, Lowe’s store mascot, will attend Back to School Night (August 21 @ 6PM) along with store employees.

    ·         Plan and grow projects with lower grade classes:  employees bring materials and help students build planning boxes and plant material.

All of these  activities are delivered by store employees on their time off as service time!!!  This complete list of school support comes to our school completely free!!!  August 14 and 15, many of the employees worked in blocks of time at West Bountiful Elementary from 10 AM to 7 PM.

I encourage community members to thank Mark Deskins and Evans Martin when you make purchases at Lowe’s for their generosity!  As a school, we will find ways to also give back to Lowe’s and recognize their support. Thank you, Lowe’s in West Bountiful!!
