The theme this year is: “The World Would Be a Better Place If…”

Please encourage your child to participate in one or more of the categories which are:  Dance choreography, film production, music composition, Literature, photography, 3D art, and visual art (drawing, painting, collage, photographic collage, metal, etching or punch work, fiber work, or computergenerated artwork)

    Important dates to remember:

    Oct 30th: Awards assembly for A & C Tracks 9 a.m.

    Nov. 7th: Awards assembly for B & D Tracks 9 a.m.

The school’s website has a link to the three forms that must be turned in with each project.

Each student needs to fill out the Entry form, the consent form, and the artist statement that is found at the bottom of their categories rules page.

We look forward to seeing all of the amazing entries.  If you have questions you may contact Jamie Stoker at 801-774-0759 or email her at

The Reflections category guidelines will explain the rules and give instructions.  This is where you can also print off the forms you'll need.  Good Luck!

  • Does Attendance Matter?

According to the University of Utah, c
hronic absenteeism in Utah is pervasive, with approximately 1/7 students chronically absent every year.  Chronic absenteeism is associated with low test scores and low grades.  It is an early warning sign of future academic problems.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and DSD has several activities for students to participate in.  The first activity is Sept. 3rd.  McDonald's is offering a free breakfast for students from 6-8 a.m.  Elementary students will also be invited to enter a coloring contest.  Winners at the district level will receive a cash prize.

It is critical students are in school in order to receive direct instruction and particpate in class discussions.
Please help us with this by making sure your students are at school every day!
