As you know, idling pollutes the air and affects our health. An idling vehicle emits twenty times more pollution than a vehicle traveling at 32 mph. This increase of air pollutants causes health problems in our children. Children’s asthma symptoms increase as a result of exposure to car exhaust. In 2013, approximately one in six Utah students with asthma saw a doctor because of worsening asthma symptoms or an asthma episode or attack. We can improve the health of our students and reduce missed school days by encouraging no idling.
