Welcome to South Weber Elementary School and South Weber K-2 Center. Both buildings are located in the beautiful community of South Weber. South Weber is the northern-most city in Davis County, and our elementary schools are in the Davis School District. We have a combined total of over 800 students, an excellent faculty, staff and wonderful supportive parents. The success of all students is our top priority. South Weber Elementary opened its doors in 1976 and the K-2 opened during the Fall of 2009. We have a long-standing tradition of providing excellent academic preparation for our students. Please visit us at www.southweberelementary.com

"If you need an ADA accommodation, please contact Scott Zigich at SZIGICH@DSDMAIL.NET or by phone 801-402-5307. We will make every attempt to provide reasonable accommodations."
The Bond Has Passed!
We're trying to minimize the walking trips..
Now What?? Now that the bond has passed, work will begin moving forward on Phase II of our K-2 Center. Exact dates have not been set. Some have forgotten that the entire building will be complete and able to function on its own when Phase II is complete. Phase II will have four Kindergarten Rooms, a special education room, administrative offices, a multi purpose room/cafeteria, and a new entrance. The present 3-6 building will have some remodeled areas as well. The kitchen will be remodeled, upgraded, and the administrative offices will move to the south west corner of the 4th grade hallway. This move will place the two buildings' offices facing each other facilitating ease of travel (for adults who work at both buildings), more common drop off points, and better security.
K-2 Students are now going directly to their hallways in the K-2 Center each day. Students will begin class quicker, and lose one of their "trips" per day by arriving there initially. Parents may drop students off at the west door of the K-2 by traveling south on the newly paved 1160 E. Please let kids off on the east side of that street so they do not have to cross in front of traffic. We appreciate all your support and realize this year will be difficult. We appreciate your patience and also thank the Davis School District for allowing the community of South Weber to have this wonderful facility.
New DESK Standards, New SMART Reporting System
Parents Will Notice a Change
New Report Stresses What Students Have LEARNED Click Here to receive more information on both As our schools move forward in Standards Based Education, we evolve and find better ways to let parents know what students have learned and are able to do. When a student masters a standard according to the DESK standards available here: http://www.davis.k12.ut.us/curric/desk/ we are able to report that to parents not only online each day, but through our quarterly SMART report (new report card). Our report will consist of a 3 point rubric which your child's teacher may have already shared with you. You have seen a 1-4 leveled grading system in the past which some may have equated with the ABCD grading system still used in secondary schools. This is different and if you would like to see for yourself and learn about the changes, please go here: http://www.davis.k12.ut.us/smart/ to learn more. The changes are exciting and emphasize that student achievement is more than a race or competition and that ALL students can learn and progress.
Parents and Students Can Go Here Click here for Math pages Davis School District recently adopted a new Grade 3-6 Math series published by Houghton Mifflin. The above link will take you to the site where you can explore the new adoption and even print pages from math workbooks. This is a great resource for students and parents. Below you'll find the link for the Spelling Words that go with each theme in our Reading series.
