Community Council Notes
Meeting held on March 19, 2004

1. LandTrust plan was reviewed by the council for acceptance. Mr. Beckman highlighted some of the key points from the plan. Last year the main focus of the plan was Accelerated Reader materials. Many books and tests were bought. We also had money to hire a one day a week assistant for the medica center to help with AR testing, book check out and other media center responsibilities.

The council accepted the plan and it has been submitted to the state for acceptance.

2. School Improvement Plan [SIP] was formally handed out as having been accepted by the district, after four different district committee readings and a few changes suggested by them to be acceptable. Mr. Beckman pointed out several of the areas where the SIP has need for Community Council interaction. The concern is that we now have a plan which addressed questions in an organized sub-grouping of categories. The questions have been asked, the plan developed from the questions, and now we must have answers for the plan. We must use dates from CRT testing from last year and this year's testing. Community Council will be involved in helping write to legislators, inform our community and be supporters of the plan.

3. Last item was the concern to have new members. The need to have more people is critical because of the role the Community Council will be taking in the future success of our school

The next meeting is scheduled for May 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in Mr. Beckman's office.
