Suggests site to help students see the role of rough drafts in papers of historical importance.

beforehand to assure that the information there is appropriate for your students.
Materials
Introduction
Instructional Procedures
1. Teacher visits the web sites and projects the display of the rough drafts of the Declaration of Independence.
2. Compare and discuss the rough draft versus the signed document using the POTUS site to show the final version of the document.
3. Break into small groups and work on separate rules and procedures.
4. Continue the small group work with editing and revision of the original draft of classroom procedures.
5. Shift to a large classroom discussion to compile the governing document for the classroom.
6. Classroom signatures and copy to be posted in the classroom.
