Use, Choose & Integrate a Digital Camera The digital camera, developed in the 1990s and now within the reach of a teacher's pocketbook, makes it possible to integrate photography into classroom instruction. World Book says: "the word photography comes from a Greek word meaning to write or draw with light." Digital cameras still draw pictures with rays of light but they do not use film. Instead, they store images or pictures as electronic information, expressed in digits, that can be transferred to a computer, viewed on a television screen, sent as an e-mail attachment over telephone lines or printed on paper.
