Parent Meeting: Monday,Feb. 4, 2013 @ 6:30 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium

Dear Parents,
As you know, our school community is growing rapidly! When Buffalo Point opened in August of 2008, there were 792 students that began school that year. We currently have 1065 students enrolled at Buffalo Point Elementary. We added 10 portables with additional teachers in the years since we opened. Based on our growth patterns; Buffalo Point is projected to have 1078 students in our next fall!

Buffalo Point really doesn’t have room for additional portables. In addition, we have some difficulty accommodating students in our cafeteria for lunch and in our prep rotation schedule now - it is already quite crowded. After much discussion, Buffalo Point will move to the year-round school schedule for the 2013-2014 school year as the best way accommodate the students at Buffalo Point Elementary and ensure they get a good education in a safe environment. There might be some questions as we transition into this new schedule, so we have developed the attached information sheet intended to answer as many questions as we could anticipate. We are also holding a Parent Information Meeting on Monday, February 4th, 2013, 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Syracuse High in the auditorium. If you have other questions, please e-mail us at rbaird@dsdmail.net

Although change is always inevitable, it can also be challenging and exciting. It was exciting to open up Buffalo Point Elementary as a brand new school. We want you to know that we will be working very hard here at Buffalo Point Elementary to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved. We appreciate your support very much!

Sincerely,
Richard Baird, Principal
