Classroom Supplies & Donations
At the beginning of each year, many parents request a teacher supply list so they can furnish some items as a donation to the the classroom setting. Utah state law states that supplies will be provided by the school, however, in the 2012 Utah Legislative Session it was approved for elementary school teachers to complile and provide a suggested list of supplies that may be brought/donated/furnished by parents on a voluntary basis that will be used in the classroom.
This language can be found in District Policy 6F-101 School Fees, Fee Waivers and Provisions in Lieu of Fee Waivers Section 2.1.5.
2.1.5. School supplies must be provided for elementary students.
[a] An elementary school or teacher may compile and provide to a student’s parent a suggested list of supplies for use during the regular school day so that a parent may furnish on a voluntary basis those supplies for student use.
[b] Such a list must include the following language: “Notice: The items on this list will be used during the regular school day. They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis. Otherwise, they will be furnished by the school.”
At Buffalo Point Elemenatary we appreciate all of the supplies that parents choose to donate to help our students succeed. If you are interested in furnishing supplies, please check with your child's teacher for a supply list. Each teacher in our school will be creating a list this year.
