H1N1 Guide for Parents and Employees

Influenza and Novel H1N1 are in schools. Now what? |
The Davis School District is partnering with the Davis County Health Department to keep residents up-to-date on the impact of both influenza and H1N1 in our schools. This website is one resource being used to distribute that information.
Currently in the Davis School District, students and employees are being taught and reminded that the best defense against influenza is a good offense.
That offense includes: - Getting a regular seasonal flu shot and an H1N1 shot when they become available.
- Covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and then throwing away the tissue.
- Washing your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand cleaners if those are not available.
If a school-aged child gets an influenza-like illness — coughing, sore throat, sneezing and/or a fever above 100 degrees — school officials are asking parents to keep that child home until their fever has subsided for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
School officials are also asking that parents pick up their sick child as quickly as possible if contacted by the school. The child will be isolated from other students until the parents arrive at the school.
