Hill Field awarded STEM Grant for 2010-2013!
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Hill Field Elementary is excited to have been awarded a Department of Defense Educational Activities (DODEA) Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) grant! Our goal is to provide enriched experiences for our students through hands-on activities, including access to technologies, tools, and materials not normally accessible to our elementary students. These opportunities, coupled with targeted staff development and curricular alignment in grades 4 through 6, and also coordination with secondary STEM curriculum will provide real-world skills developed through application of current and emerging technologies.
This hands-on, project-based curriculum will allow students to daily incorporate the language arts into an exciting setting in which students will be able to communicate their questions, understandings, and findings orally and in writing. These experiences will also allow individual students to develop within themselves a vision of how they can contribute to the discovery of real-world solutions.
We appreciate the Department of Defense for giving us the opportunity to provide our students with world-class educational opportunities. This funding will help us to further promote academic success in math, science, and technology for our highly transient military family population, which comprise 95% of our student population.
