Valley View Welcomes New Teachers & Faculty
2016 - 2017
The new school year brings not only new students and families, but new teachers and faculty as well! Here are the new names to look for:
This year we will again have a split class at Valley View, but unlike previous years the class will run a little differently. In the morning until lunch the 4th grade students will be with Mrs. Moana Patterson where they will be instructed in Writing, Math, and Science.
The 3rd grade students will be with Mrs. Karen Kimber receiving grade level instruction in the same subjects. The class will have all Prep classes such as P.E., Art, Music, etc. together. They will also have lunch, and recesses together.
After lunch both 3rd and 4th grade students will spend the remainder of the day with Mrs. Kimber where she will instruct in Language Arts, Comprehension, Fluency, Spelling, Social Studies, and Healthy Lifestyles. We feel this is a great solution to an age-old problem of the split class. Students will be in small (13-15 students) sized classes for their core instruction in the morning, and then together for subjects that are more easily taught across grade levels.
Mrs. Patterson is a veteran teacher selected by myself, 3rd, and 4th grade teachers for this very task. She comes to us from Crestview Elementary in Layton. I feel confident your child will have a successful year with this plan in place. I appreciate Mrs. Kimber and Ms. Merrill for developing the plan.
